Green Bean Jesus

green bean last supper

This drawing is hanging in the hallway of the church where I  go to workout every week. I have no idea who the young artist is, but I love this. Why?

Green beans!

Does it say anywhere in the bible that Jesus (oh, he’s the one in the middle of the table, just in case you were wondering) ate green beans at the last supper?  No.

But in the mind of our young friend, no meal is complete without them–so why NOT have green beans at the last supper?

It also cracks me up that out of ALL the potential menu items, the artist chose green beans. Not tater tots or chicken fingers. Not steak or corn on the cob. (Although, corn on the cob is probably the only thing that would have made this more awesome.)

Props to the parents who obviously raised our little friend to appreciate green veggies. And props also to the Sunday School teacher who didn’t insist that the budding artist stick to bread and wine.

And you go, young artist. Keep thinking outside the box.
